Soup-a-Palooza: Potato Soup

Fall is here and winter is approaching. What usually comforts people when its cold out… a hot bowl of soup! Soup is definitely my comfort food but I never really took the time to try to make some good hearty ones, but now, armed with a dutch oven and a crockpot I am ready to face the cold! First soup up to bat? The potato soup!

Paperless Living

As a graphic designer who adores print, I personally love paper. I love post its, physically writing lists, blank notebooks and cool pens. However all that paper just turns into piles and then what do I do with them. I used to carry a physical calendar around with me all the time, and wrote things in and made notes and doodles. But back in 2008, I decided it was time to go digital. I got my first android phone, synced up my google calendar and let go of my paper agenda book. Trust me, it was VERY hard to do that. But once I got acclimated to the convenience of accessing my calendar from ANYWHERE if I had my calendar or not I stopped missing the old paper book.
I still carry a notebook around with me because sometimes its faster for me to scribble something down on a blank page than it is for me to try to type on the on screen keyboard of my Droid Bionic. When I got my iPad, I started using it in the kitchen to listen to music or watch tv because I am a multitasker and I can’t seem to focus on one thing. I started using Evernote to compile my recipes and notes… which is great because it syncs your account, so now I have Evernote on my iPod touch, iPad, Macbookpro, Droid Bionic, Chrome web app…etc so I could jot down a recipe in ONE place and I can pull it on any other device. This eliminated printouts piling up in my purse and tables.
I also now use Pinterest to get my idea in order, so again that eliminates the paper printouts. The next step in being paperless? THE RECEIPTS that build up in my purse and wallet, using Shoeboxed to take pics of receipts, and once it processes I throw it away
I still love post its and notebooks, and I still haven’t given that up but I am trying to declutter my daily bag really.
Is there something you use and love that I need to know about? Please share!
I’m Sorry

I know, I am a terrible blogger. But a lot has been going on! I was sick for two weeks, (stomach flu and viral infection) we had a family tragedy, and my life is upside down because of an upcoming move. I have been baking and cooking though, just haven’t had a chance to pull it together and write. Please forgive me! I’ve been wanting to update the site too, but with all the buzzing going on around here and my apartment a mess I don’t know what is going to get done. Bear with me!! Also, there wasn’t a food friday last week because I was too sick to eat anything good… plus the stomach flu I lived off broth for the time. Stick with me though, I’ll get there. Keep track of me on Twitter or thru RSS to be the first to know when I get back into gear!
